Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Bell Moncrief Sharp, 95 of Thornton was held February 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Blair - Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel in Thornton with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating. Interment followed in Kosse Cemetery. Mrs. Sharp was born April 30, 1912 in Kosse to Henry Arthur and Myrtle Susan (Waller) Moncrief and passed away on February 16, 2008 in Desoto, Texas. As a young girl going to school in Kosse, she and her brothers and sisters would ride in her father's Model T. That Model T was still in use in the early 1950s. On October 16, 1933 she married Emory Sharp whom she met in a cotton patch and fell in love. They lived in Limestone County all their lives. Mrs. Sharp enjoyed fishing and crocheting. She went to work for the Mexia State School in 1957 and her first paycheck was $124.00 for the whole month. At first she was going to quit her job, but when she got home and saw the dried up cotton patch, she continued to work for the next 20 years. She retired on March 31, 1977 as a Ward Supervisor. She moved to Wortham Rehabilitation center in Wortham, Texas and resided there for the last four years. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Thornton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Emory Sharp. She is survived by her son, Wayne C. Sharp of Rusk, Daughter in law, Patsy Sharp, Three grandchildren,Allen Wayne, David Wade and Karyn Denise, four great grandchildren, Justin, Robin Jo, Allen Wesley and Jousha, and her sister, Billie Jo Bennett of Thornton. Pallbearers will be Allen Wayne Sharp, David Sharp, Justin Sharp, Allen Wesley Sharp, Jousha Sharp and Bobby Williams.
