Funeral services for Frank Darwin Connell, 84 of Mexia will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007 in First Presbyterian Church in Mexia. Rev. Ken Lane and Rev. Tom Prentiss will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church From 1 - 2 p.m. on Sunday. Mr. Connell was born May 29, 1923 in Cotton Gin, Texas to Henry Frank and Dollie Prowell Connell and passed away on November 22, 2007 in College Station. He Was actively involved in the cattle industry for 50 years, served as director of the American Brahman Breeders Association as well as president; on board of directors and President of the Texas Brahman Breeders Association, owner of Berry-Barnett Grocery, served on Mexia School Board for several years, and was active member and Elder in First Presbyterian Church. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Weaver Connell.. Survivors are his wife, Margaret Evelyn Barnett Connell, Daughters, Maggi Focke and Husband, John of College Station, and Laura (Libby) Freeman and husband, Bill of Mission, Texas; daughter in law: Phyllis Connell Sandifer; Grandchildren: Joby Focke, Scott Focke and wife, Jennifer, Megan Focke, Rhonda Jackson and husband, Erley, Melissa Macik and husband, Kirby, Samantha Freeman, Laura Burger and husband, John, Katie Anderson and husband, Joel and Will Connell; great grandchildren, Reagan and Kenzie Jackson, Roy Macik and Ashley Anderson. Pallbearers will be Bubba Garber, Alden Garber, Brad Garber, Dave Fitte, Dick Flatt and William Stutts. Memorial may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Mexia.
