Freddie Lee McDade, 81, of Tehuacana, passed away on January 10, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White-Hillcrest in Waco, Texas. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in the Kosse Cemetery at 11:30.
Freddie was born on March 5, 1941 in Kosse, Texas to James Albert and Hazel Olean (Sowders) McDade. He served in the U.S. Army from December 4, 1963 until December 3, 1965.
Freddie married Nancy Davis in 1968 and they had two sons, Freddie “Dozer” McDade, Jr. in 1970 and Matthew McDade in 1972. They moved to Tehuacana in 1972, where he remained until his death. His working career included U.S Postal Office, Mexia State School, and the Tehuacana Water Department.
Freddie loved music (taught himself how to play the guitar and banjo), gardening, bluebonnets, and definitely the Tehuacana Water Department. Although he enjoyed many hobbies and working, there was nothing he loved more than his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel McDade; grandson, William Chase “DJ” McDade; and brother, Howard McDade.
Freddie is survived by his ex-wife, Nancy Bellah; sons, Freddie “Dozer” McDade, Jr. and wife, Jeana of Coolidge and Matthew McDade and wife, Christiane of Hewitt, TX; granddaughter, Paige McDade and fiancé, Cory Nunley; grandsons, Matthew “Wyatt” McDade, Levi McDade and fiancé Lexi Cheek; and Samuel McDade; brother, Clayton McDade and many nieces and nephews.
