Gary Carl Sullivan

Gary Carl Sullivan, 79, passed away on July 9, 2024, at his home in Cotton Gin, surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1945, in Galveston, Texas to Emmett W. and Lorene (Sharp) Sullivan. Gary served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a lineman for AT&T, a career that span 31 years, prior to retirement.

Gary married Karen F. Ovaska on November 27, 1971, and they were blessed with two children, Jennifer and Jeremy, in addition to two special grandchildren, Tiffany and Rachael. 

Gary enjoyed doing carpentry work and participating in old west re-enactments’. He was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life; he was completely happy and content just spending time at home. He believed in hard work, providing for his family, and taking time to enjoy life. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Lorene Sullivan.

Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Sullivan of Mexia; daughter, Jennifer Rennison and husband, Ron of Mexia; son, Jeremy Sullivan of Buffalo, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany Wolf and husband, Jakob and Rachael Sullivan; and sister, Kay Bush of Colorado.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the Mexia Cemetery with Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating.
