With heavy hearts and a toast raised in his honor, we say goodbye to Gavin Gage, who left us far too soon at the age of 27. Gavin Gage was born in Mexia, TX on September 10th, 1997 to Melinda and Bubba Gage and passed away on February 6th 2025. Gavin lived his life the way it was meant to be lived—boldly, unapologetically, and with a drink in hand, surrounded by the people he loved. He was the life of the party, the friend you called for a wild night out or a deep conversation at 2 a.m. His energy was infectious, his laughter unmistakable, and his ability to turn any gathering into an unforgettable memory was unmatched.
Gavin had a way of making everyone feel like his best friend. Whether it was through his unwavering loyalty, or his ability to find adventure in the most unexpected places, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He believed in living life to the fullest, never missing a chance to celebrate the moment, and always bringing people together.
Though his time here was far too short, Gavin packed a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable stories into his 27 years. Among his many interests, cooking was one his favorite passions. He loved seeing everyone enjoying the food that he made. One of his last meals was a sour cream and chicken enchilada dish (much loved by his Mom).
His love of volleyball led him to new places and new people as he traveled around for competitions. Along with his friends and teammates, they won numerous competitions and fostered lifelong friendships. And in true Gavin fashion, he loved being a pool shark. Whether it be heckling friends (and hopefully winning some money) or competing in competitions (both local and in different cites), if there was a pool table he was at it.
To say he will be deeply missed by his family and his countless friends would be an understatement. Words cannot describe the loss of someone who has touched so many lives, influenced so many people and has been the shoulder for so many to lean and cry on.
In true Gavin fashion, we won’t say goodbye with tears, but with cheers—to a life lived loud, a heart that loved fiercely, and a soul that will never be forgotten. Rest easy, Gavin. The party won’t be the same without you.
He is survived by his mother, Melinda Gage and father, Bubba Gage. His brother Justin Waller spouse Laura, sisters Laney Sisk, Destiney Dabney spouse Dillon, and Faith Gage. His grandparents, Charlie Morris and Brenda Sanderson Ridge, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was blessed with numerous half siblings and many friends that saw him as a brother.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Eva Mae and Johnathan Powell, Grandparents Gloria and Joe Bob Thomas, Mary Lou and Freeman Gage.
Psalm 23:4: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
