Geraldine Bliss-Stanley

Geraldine Guest Bliss Stanley, 67, passed away, May 13, 2015, in Arlington, Texas. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2015 in Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Michael Vestal officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Gerry was born February 22, 1948 in Mexia, Texas to James and Helen Duncan Guest. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School in 1966. She was a house parent at the Texas Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie, Texas for a number of years. Gerry never met a stranger; she was friendly and had an outgoing personality. Her love for God, her family, children and everyone was easily seen in the way she lived her life. At an early age, she became interested in playing the piano and without any lessons, learned how to play on her own. She was married to Gerald Stanley, a Missionary Baptist minister, for several years. After his death in 2009, she returned to Mexia for a few years. During this time, Gerry joined the Temple Baptist Church where she became very active, including playing the piano. However, due to her health, she moved to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Bliss, Gerald Stanley; and brother, Kenneth Guest. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Heather Bliss of Arlington; grandson, Noah Griffis; sisters, Patsy Johnson and husband, Floyd of Mexia and Peggy Pipkin and husband, Dick of Houston; twin brother, Jimmy Guest and wife, Jane of China Spring; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers,the family request memorials may be made to the Texas Baptist Home for Children, 629 Farley St., Waxahachie, TX 75165, phone #972-937-1321.
