Ginger Ann Taylor, of Mexia, passed away on April 12, 2023 in Temple, Texas at the age of 77. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Bill Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Limestone County. Steven Blake Hughes, Will Taylor, Jonathan Perry, Timothy Perry, David Sheppard, and David Snow will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Ginger was born in Mexia on October 3, 1945 to Willie Buchanan and Dorothy E. (Wells) Slaughter. She graduated from high school in Plano, Texas, Class of 1963 and received her Associate Degree in Applied Animal Science from TSTC in Waco.
Ginger’s family was her inspiration in life; she loved being a mother but was even happier when they made her a grandmother; she truly cherished her grands and great grandbabies. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends.
Being a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary was very important to Ginger and a big part of her life for many years. She had a very loving, caring, giving heart and she never met a stranger. These were exemplified not only as a member of this organization, but throughout her life. Ginger also loved the outdoors and appreciated everything nature had to offer. Her hobbies consisted of fishing, painting, pottery, crocheting, and all types of arts and crafts. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.
Ginger impacted many lives. She will be forever missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded by her parents, Willie B. and Dorothy Slaughter; husband of 39 years, Ron Taylor; brother, Gene Slaughter and wife, Nanette; sister, Bette Perry and husband, Ron; daughter-in-law, Laura Taylor; and stepfather, Harold B. Sheppard.
Ginger is survived by her children, William “Bill” Taylor and fiancé, Laurye Allen and Shara T. Hughes and husband, Steven all of Mexia; grandchildren, Morgan Flannery, Will Taylor, Ashley Boldra and husband, Justin, and Steven Blake Hughes; great grandchildren, Wesley McKeand, Penelope Benford, Grace and John Boldra, and Avery Hughes; sister, Kathy Ellison; brothers, Robert Sheppard and wife, Neda and nephew, David Sheppard and wife, Heather; nieces, Jennifer Sheppard, Gena Slaughter and husband, Rick and Bonita Doyle; nephews, Mike Perry, Timothy Perry, and John Perry; and sister-in-law, Velma Bowes and husband, David. She is also survived by three special cousins that she grew up with and loved like sisters, Wynters Cate, Paula Wells, and Debbie Sims.
