Gladys Hargrove

Gladys Winona Hargrove, of Mexia, passed away on August 10, 2021 in Waco, Texas at the age of 82.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Pastor John Carabin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Forest Glade Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Gladys was born February 26, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Jack Blount and Thelma (Collier) Sorsby.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother..  Gladys was a homemaker who dedicated her life to what was most important, taking care of her family.  She loved each, and everyone, of her grandchildren, but her world revolved around Michala, as she raised her and had always taken care of her.

Gladys was a faithful Christian; she loved the Lord, her church and church family.   She enjoyed helping others and was always willing to help wherever there was a need.  She volunteered at the Food Bank, in Mexia, delivering groceries to those who could not come to the facility.  Gladys was a loving, caring person and will be truly missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Thelma Sorsby; husband, Johnny Hargrove; and four brothers, Earl, Alfred, Howard and Kenneth Sorsby.

Gladys is survived by her three sons, Ernest Warneke, Glenn Warneke, and Michael Warneke and wife, Shashanna; six grandchildren, Michala, Ryan, Sharrae, Yvanna, Timothy, and Samantha Warneke; two sisters, Joyce Conley and Betty Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.
