Harley Douglas Tisdale passed away Monday, September 8, 2014, in Mexia Texas at the age of 81. He was born September 30, 1932 in Kirven, Texas to David Marion and Irene Tisdale. Douglas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He served in Alaska as a Radar operator and remained in the Army reserve for an additional eight years. On October 17, 1956, he married the love of his life, Wanda Leila Osborne, and to this union they were blessed with six daughters. The majority of Douglas' career was spent in construction work, however, he retired from the Mexia State School. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Genieve Osborne; two sisters, JoAnn Cecil and husband, Bill and Florene Padgett and husband, Therman; one brother, David Lloyd Tisdale; three sister-in-laws, Bonnie Tisdale, Bobbie Osborne, Lou Worley and husband Dwyn; one grandchild, Jennifer Chambers; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Williams. Douglas is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Wanda Osborne Tisdale of Cotton Gin; six daughters, Tina Tisdale of Teague, Vicki Tisdale and Jerry Sullivan of Mexia, Denise Ryno and husband, Terry of Wortham, Wandalene Williams and husband, Ferron of Mexia, Dona Crawley and husband, Jerry of Cotton Gin and Connie Tisdale of Centerville; brother, John Irvin Tisdale of Houston; sister, Lanelle Matthingly and husband, Ray; two sister-in-laws, Jackie Davis and Nan Warren; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at a later date at New Hope Cemetery in Freestone County.
