Harold Allen

Harold Lee Allen entered his heavenly home on January 28, 2021 at the age of 93.  Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.  Andy Smiley, Tommy Vaughan, Wesley Allen, Frank Haskell, and Mark Haskell will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Harold was born August 28, 1927 in Litchfield, Illinois to Willard T. and Alma B. (Gates) Allen.   He and Elizabeth have called Mexia home for 40 years.  Harold proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.  He worked for an automated machine company in Springfield, Illinois for 30 years.  Harold became a very knowledgeable machine operator, a job he enjoyed.  In addition to machine repairs, they made hour meters for airplanes.  He was a hard worker, and due to his ability and willingness to do a good job, he was promoted to the position of Foreman.  After moving to Mexia, he worked for IMC, ABCO Furniture Company and the Mexia State School.

Harold married Elizabeth E. Kelm at the First Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois on November 26, 1964.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Because of his faith and love for God, his children were raised in a Christian home.  There was nothing more important than serving the Lord, working hard to provide for his family and treating everyone with respect.  Harold served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for 12 years, prior to joining the First Baptist Church in Mexia where he was currently a member.  When time would allow, woodworking was a favorite of his, he enjoyed making Jesus plaques for gifts and plaques made in the shape of fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Alma Allen; and son, Martin Edward Allen.

Harold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Allen; children, Jennifer Lee Allen, Jody Marie Haskell and Wesley Tenis Allen; and grandchildren, Holly Marie Haskell and Carrie Elizabeth Haskell.

Harold's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to All Church Members for the prayers and food provided and to the Nurses and EVERYONE on the Hospice Team of Texas Home Health Care and Hospice, especially Sheba Zant for her diligent care.
