Herbert Glenn Padgett, 93, passed away peacefully on January 8th 2025. He was born on October 29, 1931 to Maron A. Padgett and Lois Day Padgett in Teague, Texas. His siblings were sisters, Evelyn Juanita Padgett and Myrian Valarie Hedrick, and brother, Samuel Maurice Padgett. Herbert was currently living in New Mexico.
Herbert worked hard all his life. He left high school in the 12th grade to work with his father at Eastern States Oil Refinery. Later, he completed his GED and joined the army around the early 1950’s. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Herbert loved racing from hot rods to horses to greyhounds. You could always find him under the hood of a vehicle. He raised horses and greyhounds. He raced at different tracks around Texas and New Mexico during his lifetime and made many friends along the way.
Herbert is survived by his daughter, Myra Renay Padgett Patin and husband, Pat of Houston Texas; son, James Marion Padgett and wife, Jodi of Florida; and daughter, Teresa Lynn Padgett Cook and husband, Jeff of New Mexico. He was loved by his many grandchildren: Casey Renay Eriksen, Leslee Jo Eriksen, Taylor Lynn Patin, Trevor Patrick Patin, Callie Padgett, Megan Cook Wenzel, Justin Lee Cook, Ty Cody Cook, great-grandchildren: Adyian Leticia Eriksen, George Wyatt Wenzel, Atlee Dakota Wenzel, Ryan Reed Cook, Eli Evan Cook, Brenden Ethan Cook, Analesia Cook, Riot Cody Cook. Also loved by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Blackmon officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will follow in the Cotton Gin Cemetery, CR 930, Teague, Texas
