Hermine Hawker Sewell, 75, of Mexia, passed away December 22, 2013 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Teague with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Hermine was born November 11, 1938 in Houston, Texas. She was adopted, through the Edna Gladney Home, by Herman W. and Gladys Bell Hawker when she was 3 years old. She was a graduate of Teague High School. She retired from Mexia ISD after many years of service as an office assistant. During those years, she impacted the lives of many students. Hermine's family was the joy of her life. However, her loving, caring ways were extended to everyone she knew. She was a longtime member and past president of the Woman's Friday Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marshall Muse. Hermine is survived by her husband, Larry Sewell of Mexia; children, Carol Diane Chipman of The Woodlands, David Hawker Sewell and wife, Cathye of Tomball, William Lester Sewell and wife, Lisa of San Marcos and Cynthia Ellen Catalani and husband, Dave of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Diane and Rhys Sewell, Katherine and Eric Chipman and Cari Catalani: aunt, Betty Savage; and several cousins and nieces. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Edmond Schuster and Buddy Williford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, 107 E. Commerce, Mexia, TX 76667 or charity of choice.
