Howard Eugene Awalt, 64, of Mexia passed away July 11, 2013 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Bryan Hallmark officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1:30-2:30, Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Howard was born February 9, 1949 in Pratt, Kansas to Ocie and Patsy Freeman Awalt. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Sam Houston State University. He worked for Lide Industries prior to becoming ill. Howard's world was his family. His greatest joy was his spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also took great pride in working and landscaping his sister's yard. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one son, Cliff Collier of Louisiana; two grandchildren, Summer and Winter Collier; two sisters, Linda Dyer of Mexia and Brenda Sanders of Arlington; fiancé, Kim Ridge; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Hooper, James Eakins, Tommy Dabney, Jr., Zach Dabney, Will Dabney, Rodney Starks and Richard Heard.
