Howard "Poppa" Ward, Jr.

Howard Ward, Jr. of Wortham, passed away on October 15, 2021 in Mexia.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the Mexia Cemetery with Chaplain Karen Hulsey officiating.

Howard was born on January 20, 1948 in Cooke County, Texas to Howard and Esther (Rece) Ward, the fifth child of eight children.  He moved from Waxahachie to Wortham in 2019.

Howard was affectionately known to everyone as "Poppa".  He was friendly, easy going, and willing to help others at any time.  He, also, had a happy disposition and a beautiful smile that will always be remembered.  Howard was loved by everyone.  His favorite place to eat was McDonald's.  He loved to watch sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Esther Ward.

Howard is survived by many friends who will truly miss him.
