Funeral services for Hubert Lee Harrison, 88 of Mexia will be 10 a.m.Saturday, February 10, 2007 in Blair - Stubbs Chapel. Jan Harrison and Valaree Hathaway will officiate with interment to follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 pm Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at the funeral home. Mr. Harrison was born December 6, 1918 in Coolidge to Kelly Holcomb and Maude Pearl Trotter Harrison and passed away at his residence on February 8, 2007. He was A self-employed merchant, a member of the Baptist Church and served in the U. S. Army. For a number of years, Mr. Harrison served on the Mexia City Council and in 1973 was elected Mayor. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Harrison, Arvil Harrison, Horace Harrison and sister, Bernice Hance. He is survived by his sons and daughters in law: Bert Lynn and Glenna Harrison and Jan Keith and Becky Ann Harrison, all of Mexia, Companion, Jeanne Bradley, Grandchildren, Stacy Park, Bert Lynn Harrison, Jr., James Harrison and wife, Kelly, Jon Harrison and wife, Jaime, Walter Ryan Harrison and wife, Karen Harrison, Crystal Gail Dunn and husband, Michael Lynn Dunn; great grandchildren, Rachel Lauren, Taylor Paige and Aiden Blaire Park, Landry Spencer and Evan Sanders Harrison, Karson Ashley and Gracie Layne Harrison, and Aubrie Ann Dunn, and the Mother of his children, Dora Harrison. Pallbearers will be Bert Harrison, Jr. Jon Harrison, James Harrison, Walt Harrison, Michael Dunn and Billy Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Merdith, Bo Wilkens, Elmer Beene, Bob Fain, Steve Henderson, Jesse Cobb, Walter Van de Weghe and Horace Prather. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the dedicated group of caregivers that allowed Mr. Harrison to remain at home.
