Mrs. Icie Olene Sandifer Beldin, 79, of Mexia passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Groesbeck. Mrs. Beldin was born January 2, 1932 in Groesbeck to Rube and Lorena Lansford Sandifer. She was a lifelong resident of Groesbeck and Mexia and had worked at Varo, the Textile Mill and the Mexia State School for many years. She was an active member of the Temple Baptist Church of Mexia where she always helped with the meals for special occasions. Icie enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds, but above all her favorite hobby was cooking for her family, especially homemade macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. She was married to Sam "Pete" Beldin, Jr. on February 17, 1950 and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his death in 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, Icie was preceded in death by her son, Sidney Wayne Beldin and sister, Ruby Nell Baker. Survivors include her Children, Brenda and Romie Ball of Mexia, Lonnie and Becky Beldin of Mexia and Laura and Jim Westerfeld of McGregor, Grandchildren, Jeff and Jason Ball, Dena Anders, Andy and Kyle Beldin, Cory Westerfeld and Keri Walker, 15 Great Grandchildren, her siblings, Pearl Parker, Linda Myers, Cecil Sandifer, Jimmy Sandifer and Pam Pearson all of Mexia, Loretta Cook, Anna Cook, Mary Tubb and Elaine George of Waco and Mincy Dockery of Groesbeck. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, November 21, 2011, at the Temple Baptist Church in Mexia with the Reverend Michael Vestal officiating. Burial will follow in the Wortham cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Temple Baptist Church in Mexia.
