Imogene Killingsworth Johnson

Imogene Killingsworth Johnson was born on June 22, 1936 to Claud and Dessie (Gibson) Killingsworth at Lost Prairie, Texas.  She passed from this life on December 5, 2022.  As a child, she and her family attended Lost Prairie Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 12.

Imogene met Foy Johnson while attending Fair Oaks High School.  They married on May 31, 1955, soon after she had graduated.  They were blessed with 58 years together and four children, Ricky, Barbara, Randy, and Lisa.  Imogene was a homemaker in addition to being a faithful worker and Sunday School teacher in the churches that she and her family attended while living in Orange and Houston, Texas.  She was a Godly example of a Christian Lady; she led many people to Christ and to a deeper relationship with God throughout her time on Earth.  She also worked at Houston Christian School/North Houston Baptist School as a substitute teacher and girls’ volleyball and basketball coach while her children attended there.  There were so many young people that Imogene loved as her own and mentored throughout her lifetime.

In 1986, Imogene and Foy returned to Personville where she continued serving in the churches in the area.  She was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior until her health began to fail.  She was a member of Freestone Baptist Church for the past 30 years.

Imogene was preceded in death by her first born, son, Ricky Foy; her husband, Foy Johnson; parents, Claud and Dessie Killingsworth; and her 10 siblings.

Imogene leaves behind her children, Barbara Johnson of Personville, Randy Johnson and wife, Jean of Personville, and Lisa Gothard and husband, Paul of Cleveland, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Heil and husband, Jona, Heather Guthrie, Stacy Castro and husband, Gus, Michael Gothard, Hannah Gothard, Jonathan Gothard, and Sarah, Rachael, Rebekah, and Hannah Mitchell; great grandchildren, Kelle Stanfill and husband, Vincent, Jona Heil, Jr. and wife, Hannah, Hayden Heil, Shane Guthrie, Colton Guthrie, Arianna, Bethany, Cassidy, Elliott, Felicity Castro, and Brice and Kane Brown; and great-great grandchild, Riley Stanfill.

She also leaves a great host of family and friends; she will be greatly missed.
