Israel Vasquez, 75, of Mexia, passed away November 19, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Nettali Guzman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Israel was born January 6, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to Jose and Christina Morales Vasquez. He worked in the dry cleaners business in New York and California before retiring and moving to Mexia. Israel was a kind, loving man who loved serving people. His wife and children were the love of his life. He was happiest when his home was filled with children; regardless of whose children they were. He also enjoyed music, board games, coloring, movies and sports including, baseball, wrestling and football. He was a member of Arca de Refugio Church in Mexia. Israel's wife and children are proud of the wonderful legacy he left. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nathan Vasquez, sisters, Elizabeth Vasquez and Barbara Alicea; and brother, Nathan Vasquez. Israel is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Isabel Vasquez of Mexia; children, Nancy Denise Vasquez, Linda Christine Gutierrez, Israel Vasquez, Jr. all of Seattle WA, Daniel Vasquez of Laguna Nigel, CA, Deborah Vasquez of Mexia and Shirley Dupra of Riverside, CA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Vasquez.
