Jackie Contreras

Jackie Lynn Contreras, of Mexia, passed away September 26, 2021 at the age of 58.  A mass, to celebrate Jackie’s life, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Benjie Magnaye officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Jackie was born July 5, 1963 in Arcadia, California to Edward and Beulah (Grider) Powell.  She and her husband, Salvador, have lived in Mexia for many years.  Jackie was presently employed at Parkview Regional Hospital.  She had over 25 years of service as a CNA in the Surgical Department; she loved her job and was a very dedicated nurse.

Jackie was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.  She was the proud mother of three children, Eduardo, Monica, and Emilo.  Her love for God, family, and all people was exemplified by the way she lived her life.  Jackie enjoyed the outdoors and cooking – which she did very well.  She was, also, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Powell; son, Emilo Contreras; and sister, Darlene Powell.

Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Salvador Contreras of Mexia; children, Eduardo and Monica Contreras; mother, Beulah Powell; and sister, Karen Hoover.
