Jackie Mae Russell passed away in Colorado City, Texas on August 11, 2016 at the age of 91. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Point Enterprise Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Jackie was born on December 2, 1924 in Mexia, Texas to R. W. and Annie Lee Powers Spencer. After graduating Salutatorian of Mexia High School Class of 1941, she continued her education at Westminster College in Tehuacana, where she graduated, Valedictorian of her class, receiving a Degree in Education. Jackie married, her loving husband of 57 years, Elmer Daniel "Dan" Russell on July 29, 1950 in Mexia, Texas. Jackie was a hard worker, raising two daughters and helping Dan on their farm. She was devoted to serving God, taking care of her family and helping others. She enjoyed cooking for her family and happy to feed anyone that showed up at her door. She also enjoyed sewing, making pepper relish for Dan, working puzzle books and participating in church activities. Jackie was a longtime active member of the First Christian Church in Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan Russell; and brothers, R. L. and Loraine Spencer. Jackie is survived by her daughters, Janet Stribling and husband, Jimmy of Fluvanna, TX and Carolyn Kitching and husband, Sam of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Justin Stribling, Dana Henderson, Annie Stribling, Lauren Kitching and Tanner Kitching; great-grandchildren, Jace, Samantha, Skye and Kason; and niece, Jacquelyn Rogers.
