Ms. Jacqueline Hawkins, 71, of Coolidge, passed away March 16, 2009. Funeral services for Ms. Hawkins will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge. Rev. Bob Rainey, Rev. Judy Hunt, Rev. Donnie Elrod, Rev. Nannette Wyatt and Rev. Lindsay Kirkpatrick will officiate with interment to follow in the Armour Cemetery. Ms. Hawkins was born to Jack and Iva (Walker) Hawkins in Fort Worth on June 11, 1937. She was a lifelong resident of Coolidge. Ms. Hawkins graduated from Coolidge High School in 1955. She attended Navarro College and Baylor University where she received a degree in X-Ray Technology. Ms. Hawkins was a retired X-Ray Technician of Providence Hospital in Waco but also worked for the Groesbeck Hospital. She was manager of the Senior Citizens Center in Coolidge for a number of years. She, also, retired after serving 24 years as Coolidge City Judge. Ms. Hawkins was very active in all community affairs in Coolidge. She was a member of the Coolidge Ex-student Association and was currently serving as President of the Coolidge Cemetery Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge. She was preceded in death by her parents, lifelong dear friend, Ruth Adams, and her dog, Tutu. Ms. Hawkins is survived by her lifelong friend, companion and caregiver, Scott Ray of Coolidge; cousins, Sue Womack of Mansfield, Calvin Phillips of Dallas, James Allen Allbright of Houston; nieces, Donna Zemanek and husband, James of Hewitt, Janet Slaughter and husband, Kurt of Lake Limestone/Waco; great nieces, Aimee Zemanek of Dallas, and Kara Gensert and husband, Michael of Radcliff, Kentucky; great nephews, Jace Slaughter of Taylor, and Jantzen Slaughter of Lake Limestone/Waco; dear friends, Lois Latham, Connie Mack and Altha Hancock, Lisa Watts, Ollie Kirven, Dorothy Vinson , Ocie B. Lewis and Bulah Walker; a host of lifelong friends; her dog, Precious. Pallbearers will be Dwight Latham, Wyatt Wilson, Allen Johnston, Tom Cotton, Donald Erwin, Jace Slaughter and Jantzen Slaughter. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Seay, Soap Osborne, Kenneth Gardner, Kenneth Erwin, Sheriff Dennis Wilson, Ollie Kirven, Stancell "Smokey" Wade, Jr., Dr. Al Blount, Billy Waldrop, Scott Sykora and Connie M. Hancock.
