James Albert (Jay) Andrews, III, 90 passed away on Thursday morning, April 23, 2009, at the Haven Nursing Home in Mexia, Texas. Jay was a loving Christian gentleman who never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was a member of Northcrest Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the Lion's Club. Also, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and Mexia Blackcat sports fan! Jay served the Lord with loving charity and attendance on mission trips. Jay was born in North Zulch, May 1, 1918 to James Albert and Lula Alice Harris Andrews. He and twin brother, Jim Ed, began their schooling in Forest Glade during Mexia's oil boom. He graduated from North Zulch schools and received a track scholarship to the University of Texas. He also attended Texas A & M and Sam Houston State Universities. Jay served his country in the Navy during WWII. He worked 30 years for Dow Chemical Company. After retirement, he was called back to Dow as a consultant for 20 more years. This work took him all over the world. Jay's entrepreneurial spirit led him to many diverse ventures including his prized Caney Creek Haven Subdivision in Sargent, Texas where he lived for many years. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and daughter, Jamie Andrews Bowen. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Janis Frost Andrews; daughters, Dianne Frost Hooks and husband, Doug of Mexia and Melanie Frost Holloway and husband, Jon of Waco; son, Marcus Frost and wife, Molly of Mexia; grandchildren, Meredith Bowen Marwill and husband, Jeffery of Nashville, TN, Amy Hooks Castleberry and husband, Larry, Scott Holloway and wife, K.K., Ashley Hooks Hall and husband, Matthew, Clint Frost, Brooke Holloway and Haley Frost Vest and husband, Jeff and nine great-grandchildren all of Mexia. Jay is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and a very special friend and loyal employee, Eloise Adams and husband, Max of Lake Jackson. Visitation will be at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, Saturday, April 25th from 5 pm to 7 pm. Services will be at Northcrest Church of Christ in Mexia, Sunday, April 26th at 2 pm with Rev. Dan Warden and Mr. Marcus Frost officiating. A memorial service and interment will be held in Lake Jackson Monday, April 27th at 3 pm in Restwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Steve Andrews, Danny Shannon, Scott Holloway, Clint Frost, Matthew Hall and Jeff Vest. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Jackson and members of the McDonald's Coffee Club, Maurice Hinchliffe, Max Hagen, Bruce Lowery, Leonard Oshosky, Mike Rylander and Truman Alexander.
