James Ronald Campbell, 78, of Mexia passed away on April 19, 2013. Services will be 11AM, Monday, April 22, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Ronnie was born to James and Virginia Campbell on Oct. 3, 1934, in Cross Plains, Texas. He was a graduate of Central High School in San Angelo, and in 1964, the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. Ronnie married LuAnn Hargrove Campbell on Sept. 1, 1962, in Houston. He worked as a dentist for 35 years, eventually retiring from the Veteran's Administration. Ronnie was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and retired as a Reserve Colonel. He was an avid golfer and loved listening to blues music. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mexia. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Campbell. He is survived by his wife, LuAnn Campbell of Mexia, his children, daughter, Kathy Campbell Whitten of Waco, Son, James Matthew Campbell of Waco and daughter, Carrie Campbell Babin and husband, Logan "Hank" Babin III of Houma, LA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Clay Austin Whitten, Makayla Leigh Campbell, Logan Elisabeth Babin, Campbell Clair Babin, Lilly Grace Babin and Chloe Ann Babin. Pallbearers will be Elmer Beene, Joe Cannon, Jack Forrest, Holloway Martin, Jesse Hargrove, Jacko Hargrove. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, 107 E. Commerce, Mexia, TX 76667.
