Funeral services for James L. Campbell Jr., 99, of Conroe, formerly of Thornton will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. Bobby Campbell will officiate and the burial will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Max Blackmon, Chad Blackmon, Brandon Blackmon, Brent Bedford, Jay Hillin and Logan Werner. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the chapel in Thornton. Mr. Campbell was born August 15, 1913 in Oletha to James L. and Lena Thompson Campbell. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Campbell retired from the Cameron Iron Works in Houston as an engineer and supervisor in the early 70's and moved to Conroe to be close to his family. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Ruth and his second wife of 12 years, Cora. Survivors are his daughter, Fathine Waldrum of Conroe, Sons, Howard Dwain Campbell of Willis and Bobby Wayne Campbell of Houston, four granddaughters, eight great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
