James Young

James Steel Young, 79 passed away at his residence in Freestone County, on December 20, 2005. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Young was born October 2, 1926 in Calcutta, India and had lived in this area for The last 25 years. He was a 32 degree Mason and Shriner in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Houston. He traveled over the world on start-up operations of Chemical Plants in the Petroleum Industry. He was a chemical engineer with Combustion Engineering Co. And also a rancher. Mr. Young built their retirement home in Freestone County in 1984. He loved his cows And his tractor. Privately religious man with great honesty. He had battled cancer since 1990. Survivors are his wife, Audrey Young , Daughter, Irene Van Tiel and son ,Douglas Young , both of Amsterdam, Holland, and daughters Jessica Dever and Carole Riggs of Houston. Grandchildren: David Van Tiel, Milan Van Tiel, Andy Young,of Amsterdam, Holland, Stephen Patton, Adrian Glen and Erica Glen, all of Houston. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cross.
