Jane Elizabeth Sisserson Mills, 86, of Marfa, Texas passed away January 4, 2011 in Mexia, Texas. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Marfa, Texas with Rev. Jane Vaughn officiating. Jane was born January 4, 1926 in Chatfield, Navarro County, Texas to Charles Hutchison and Mary Lane Sisserson. She graduated from Mart High School and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1945 after receiving a Bachelor of Science Education. She married Woodrow Wilson Mills on August 4, 1947 in Weatherford, Texas. Jane was a rancher's wife, mother, school teacher and a friend to many. She was a 40 year member and past president of the West of the Pecos Cattlewomen Association. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and Marfa First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Sisserson; her husband of 56 years, Woodrow Mills; and two brothers, Charles H. Sisserson, Jr. and Kenneth Lane Sisserson. Jane is survived by one son, Larry Mills and wife, Madeline of San Angelo; two daughters, Janet "Jay" Posey and husband, Lowell of Mexia and Jeanne Hall and husband, Mem of Marfa; sister, Mary Lou Sumner and husband, Bob of Alba; four grandchildren, Chelsea Leigh Burbach and husband, Aaron of Alpine, Julie Robertson and husband, James of Carrollton, Justin Mills of Riverton, Wyoming and Rainee Perdue of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Whitley Jean Burbach of Alpine, Dylan and Ryan Escamilla of Grand Prairie; special friends, Shirley and Rick Newcomb of Midland, Ashley Wood of Alpine, Ann Pendleton of Mexia and her beloved companion, Sugar Pie; several brothers and sisters-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Hospice, Mexia, Texas, your local animal shelter or charity of choice.
