Janis Jean Johnson, age 76, of Tehuacana, Texas, passed away on November 27, 2024, in Waco, Texas. Born on November 11, 1948, in Corsicana, Texas, to Dan Louis and Norma Lee (Holt) Budai.
Janis was a dedicated pharmacist working for Parkview Regional Hospital for 39 years with several years of service prior at the Mexia State Supported Living Center. She continued to serve the hospital and community as a current member of Parkview Regional Hospital Board of Trustees.
It was not uncommon to see her working in her Tehuacana community as Mayor or at the Volunteer Fire Department. She served as Secretary/Treasurer for the organization as well. Her compassion and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on those she served.
Janis enjoyed bird watching, scrapbooking, crafting, photography, decorating for Christmas, collecting Santas, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling and vacations.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Robert (Bobby) Wayne Budai.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Johnson, of 50 years and two daughters, Stephanie Meyer and husband Randy of Waco and Jamie Gragg and husband Mike of Tehuacana; grandchildren- Andrew Meyer, David Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Sarah Meyer, Bradley Gragg, Madison Gragg, Mary Catherine Gragg and Emily Gragg.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Blair Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, Texas on November 29, 2024, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mexia, Texas on November 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Moses lyogwoya and Father Benji Magnaye, celebrants. Interment following at the Tehuacana Cemetery.
Janis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In this time of mourning, we invite friends and family to join in remembrance and celebration of her life. Janis lived a life marked by her faith in God, her commitment to her family, her profession, and her community.
