Javier Gilberto Rivera

Javier Gilberto Rivera, 77, passed away in his home on May 28, 2024.  He was born in Monterrey, Mexico and lived there for several years until his family moved to Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. There he met his wife of almost 38 years, Juanita De La Cruz. He was a member of the award winning Cyclist team for the Mexican Army and he would pretend to buy spare parts since Juanita worked at a hardware store. They went on to have a full life of trials, tribulations and many happy moments.

His highest devotion was to Our Lord Jesus Christ, then to his wife, and to his side-kick, Javi. Even though Juanita has been gone for over 19 years, he religiously cleaned and visited her cemetery plot. He visited her at least 3 times a day!

His children included Brenda ( David ) and their children, Josue, Gilberto, Jacob, Marcos and Becca; Belinda ( Stanley ) and her children, Esteban ( Kayla ) and Sara; Sabrina (Alvis) and her children Samantha (Jaylon) and Gabriella; Victor ( Sara ) and their son Macario. His great-grandchildren are Raelee and Carmelo McDonald and Ezekiel and Paisley Ybarra.

He would help you, he would preach to you! He lived, he laughed and he loved—very much!

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Rivera and Maria De Jesus Cardenas. His wife, Juanita Rivera De La Cruz and their 3 children – Juanita, Javiersin and another sweet child.

He had the following verse on his business card – John 3:14-15. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.
