Jean Talley Miller, 85, passed away May 7, 2014 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at First Baptist Church. Jean was born May 16, 1928 in Eureka, Kansas to Russell Wesley and Margaret Talley. She had lived in Mexia for many years. Jean was a Sunday school teacher and longtime active member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mexia Garden Club, Bridge Clubs and enjoyed reading. Jean greeted everyone with a smile and treated them with love and respect. Her love for God, her family and friends was very visible in her life. A loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family, but find comfort in knowing she is now in her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Miller; and brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Billie Talley. Jean is survived by two sons, Michael and Sherry Miller and Randy and Susan Miller all of Mexia; grandchildren, Jeremy Miller of College Station, Erin Miller Cox and husband, Justin of Rockdale, Jennifer Ward and husband, Shawn of Knoxville, TN, Rebecca Anderson and husband, Nathan of Nashville, TN, Shae Owens and husband, Al of Hillsboro and Sara Doege of Wortham; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tyson Cox of Rockdale, Kaden Ward of Knoxville, TN, Haddilynne Anderson of Nashville, TN, Dylan and Drew Doege of Wortham and Reed and Graceyn Owens of Hillsboro; and sister, Katherine Hess of Cleveland, OH. Pallbearers will be Benjie Reed, Jeremy Miller, Justin Cox, Al Owens and Walter Van DeWeghe. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary McKinney, Jack Ballard, Bobby Reed, Holloway Martin and Bob Talley.
