Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffalene Trotter Stuver, 94, of Tehuacana will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Tehuacana. The Rev. Brad Brittain will officiate with interment to follow in the Tehuacana Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Tehuacana. Jeffalene was born in Tehuacana, Texas on June 9, 1919 and attended Tehuacana schools her entire life, graduating in 1936. She attended Westminster College for two years where she met her husband, Leo. She graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1940 with a BA in Education. She earned her MA from Sam Houston in 1949. Jeffalene was very dedicated to education serving over 30 years in the field. She spent the early years of her teaching career at Dodge, Dobbin, Rusk and Magnolia I.S.D.'s. She later served Mexia I.S.D. as a music teacher, choir director and counselor. She was a high school counselor at Hillsboro High School from 1966-1969 and ended her career as a second grade teacher at Lake Dallas Elementary retiring in 1980. Jeffalene was devoted to her community and her church serving for many years in the Teague Women's Club and the United Methodist Women's Club. After retirement, she also served on the Tehuacana City Council. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board for many years in Tehuacana. She married her college sweetheart, Leo Stuver in 1937 and they were married for 68 years. Leo and Jeffalene had many fond memories of their students, years of teaching and days spent at Westminster College. She was devoted to her family and loved her days of retirement in Tehuacana and often said that there was no greater joy than being surrounded by her son, daughter-in-law, children and grandchildren. She loved the Tehuacana countryside and frequently said how fortunate she was to live in such a beautiful place. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Lou Bounds Trotter; husband, Leo Stuver; infant son, Charles Kipling Stuver; and brother, Edward Trotter. Jeffalene is survived by her son, Jeff Stuver and wife, Pam of Teague; grandchildren, Kip Stuver and wife, Heather of Teague, Kerry Stuver and wife, Kristy of Tehuacana and Jill Stuver Clements and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Addison Stuver, Reagan Stuver, Kenlie Stuver, John Clayton Stuver, Cooper Clements and Colter Clements.
