Jewell Mae Darby, 89, of Mexia passed away October 26, 2011 in Mexia, Texas. Funeral services will be 2PM, Friday, October 28, 2011 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Jewell was born September 1, 1922 in Conroe, Texas to Johnny and Aneta Iwone Currier Outlaw. She has been a resident of Mexia for 46 years. She was a retired employee of the Mexia State School. Jewell married Roscoe L. Darby on June 13, 1944. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband. Jewell is survived by two sons, Donald Darby and wife, Jackie of Mexia and Billy Darby and wife, Dorothy of Wylie; one daughter, Shirley Gipson and husband, Ronald of Round Rock; grandchildren, Bobbie Morton and husband, Don of Mexia; Troy Darby and wife, Amanda of Mexia, Brian Gipson and wife, Paula of Colorado, Cody Darby and wife, Misty of Mexia, April Jagnow and husband, Dan of Austin, Jeffrey Gipson and wife, Katie of Austin and Tina Thornton and husband, Shannon of Wylie; and siblings, Charles Outlaw and wife, Jane of Cleveland, TX, Melvin Outlaw and wife, Gladis of Conroe and Vange Dees of Nacogdoches. Pallbearers will be Troy Darby, Cody Darby, Don Morton, Jeff Gipson, Brian Gipson and Dan Jagnow.
