Jimmie Weldon Cotton, 78, of Mexia passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, in the home he and his wife, Ann, had shared for five decades. Born July 11, 1929 to S. M. and Rosa Mae (Sanderson) Cotton, Jimmie grew up in the Frosa community. After serving his country in the United States Army, Jimmie married Ann Haley on June 4, 1955. He retired from Southwestern Electric Service Company/TXU after 27 years as a line and service man. Jimmie was a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured, and was treasured by, his family. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ann (Haley) Cotton; sister, Helen Isham of Waco; two sons, Jimmie Lee Cotton and wife, Suzanne of Mexia and Johnnie Cotton and wife, Yolanda of Grand Prairie, Tx.; seven grandchildren, Brooke Cotton, Alyssa Sullivan and husband, Brick, Waylan Cotton, Jamie Cotton, Kimberly Cotton, Ami Cotton and Chani Cotton; six step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Emili Sullivan; step-great-grandchild, Gaby Page; his feline companion, Snoopy; and numerous other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Chapel by Brother Rick Gray with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Waylan Cotton, Steven Isham, Steve Jackson, David McFarland, Brick Sullivan and Scotty Wadle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Black, Argie Black and Gordon Lee.
