Jimmie Lee Hales, of Buffalo, passed away May 30, 2017 in Palestine, Texas at the age of 76. Graveside services will be 10 AM, Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Buffalo Cemetery. Jimmie was born February 11, 1941 in Teague, Texas to James Madison and Annie Lee Thames Utsey. She married the love of her life, Roy Alse Hales, on May 11, 1957 in Freestone County, Texas. Soon after they married, Roy began working as a heavy equipment operator, but later hired on with a pipeline company giving them the opportunity do something they really enjoyed, traveling. She especially enjoyed Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Jimmie was a strong woman who endured and overcome many hardships throughout her life. She took pride in being independent and was blessed to have been until the end. She loved nothing more than being a wife, a "stay at home" mom and having the opportunity to spoil her grandchildren and Bo, her dog. She enjoyed cooking (excellent cook), shopping, especially at Wal-Mart, eating out and watching sports. The Dallas Cowboys had no greater fan than Jimmie. In earlier years, she and Roy loved getting together with family and friends to play a game of cards or dominoes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Roy; sons, Terry Glenn and James David "Jimmy" Hales; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Leigh Schmidt; and brother, James Ray Utsey. Jimmie is survived by her daughter, Deana Wright and husband, Kirk of Buffalo; grandchildren, Bridgett Carroll and husband, Jake of Fairfield, Terri Lee and husband, Wilmer "Bubba" Lee of Jewett, Andrew Hales and wife, Ashley of Jewett; four great-grandchildren, Zayne Johnson, Jacelynn Schmidt, Kenleigh Schmidt and Maci Hales; sister, Marsha Utsey of Teague; sister-in-law, Barbara Husband of Chino Valley, AZ; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene and Jimmye Leger of Pine Hurst, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made with flowers or donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
