Jimmy Herring Collins, 73, of Cedar Hill passed away June 15, 2009 in Waxahachie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Clifton Jones will officiate with interment to follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Jim was born April 13, 1936 in Prairie Grove, Texas to Dewitt and Lois Jane Pitts Collins. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1953. Jim retired from the GM Plant in Arlington after 36 years of service. He received numerous awards and was recognized for many accomplishments during his tenure with GM. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. Jim earned his pilot's license at an early age and flying became his primary hobby. He owned and maintained numerous aircraft as flying was his true passion throughout his life. He was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marguerite Collins; brother, Grady Igou; and sister, Rena Norwood. Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Lisa Cauthen and husband, Robert of Austin; sister, Betty Collins Stewart of Plano; brother Don Collins and wife, Vicky of Houston; a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and his companion, Hazel. Pallbearers will be Robert Cauthen, Lonnie Stewart, John Rusnak, Michael Stewart, Jason Key, David Hall, Travis Stewart and John Anthony Rusnak.
