Jimmy "JR" Ronald Pickett

"JR", Jimmy Ronald Pickett of Mexia, Texas was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2024 after battling a long fight with illness.

JR Pickett, son of William Thomas and Laura Elizabeth Pickett was born on August 8, 1943, in Teague, Texas. He graduated from Wortham High School in 1961. After graduation, entered into the United States Navy where he served for four years and then honorably discharged in 1965. He met the love of his life, Carol Ann Sanders in 1968 and took her as his bride on November 29, 1969 where they loved one another for 55 years.

JR was a hard working man who took care of his family by working for Central Freight Line until he retired in 2009. In his free time JR loved to go fishing, watching baseball, making fried pies and hot water cornbread for his family and friends, playing dominos and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was a kindhearted man who had a way with words and never met a stranger. He was so genuine and gentle that people loved and appreciated him. JR had the biggest heart. The kind of heart where he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved deeply for others, but most of all, he loved his wife and his family.

JR was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Elizabeth Pickett, his sister, Kay Ellen Hawkins, and brothers Tommy and Bruce Pickett.

He is survived by his precious wife, Carol Ann Pickett of Mexia, daughter Shelly Hullum and husband Brian of Mexia; daughter Melissa Bosley and husband Jim of Wortham. Grandchildren, Regan and Jordan Hullum of Mexia, Chase Bosley and wife Ashley and great granddaughter, Logan of Midland and Callan Bosley of San Antonio; brother Daryl Pickett of Teague, and cousin, Willis Pickett of Cotton Gin (who he considered like a brother) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a funeral service at this time, JR's wishes were for his remains to be buried with his wife, together when the Lord calls her home. Services will be held together at that time.
