Mrs. Jo Ann Hinchliffe, 69, of Mexia passed away April 24, 2009 in Temple. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Rev. Bruce Rudd will officiate with interment to follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Jo Ann was born to Joe C. and Muzette Rhodes Hartnett on March 15, 1940 in Mill Creek, Texas. Jo Ann grew up in Mexia, Texas where she attended school and was a proud member and twirler of the Blackcat Band under the direction of Joe Tom Haney. She was a 1958 graduate of Mexia High School. She attended Navarro College on a band scholarship. Jo Ann and Billy G. Hinchliffe were married on July 1, 1966. Jo Ann retired from the Limestone District Clerk's office in March 1997 after 20 years as a Deputy District Clerk. After retirement, she enjoyed many hobbies and was an avid and talented painter. Jo Ann loved the history and believed in the preservation of Old Fort Parker. She was a longtime member of the Old Fort Parker Historical Society where she served as secretary and worked many volunteer hours in support of Old Fort Parker. Although she was involved in many activities, Jo Ann's first priority was her love and devotion to her family. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Billy G. (Bill) Hinchliffe; one son, Charles Hinchliffe of Mexia; one daughter, Bridgett Rendon of Troy; two grandchildren, Erica and Kody Rendon of Troy; her mother, Muzette Hartnett of Groesbeck; one sister, Rita Weaver of Vancover, Washington; one brother, Jack Hartnett of Burleson; and many more family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Louie Barker, Mark Hancock, Donnie Hinchliffe, Kenneth Norris, Dr. Larry Hughes and Harvey Fredrickson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Fort Parker.
