Joe Edward Baker

Joe Edward Baker, 75, passed on Wednesday February 26, 2025 in his beloved hometown of Mexia, Texas. Joe was born on November 19, 1949 in Jewett, Texas to Irene Rose Colbert Baker and Albert Joe Baker, the youngest of his siblings, Nelda Ray Baker and Patsy Ann Baker Brown. Joe graduated from Mexia High School in the late 60’s and then Sam Houston State University in the early 70’s.

Joe enjoyed working with his hands and creating, whether it was renovating his childhood home in his spare time or creating a vegetable garden. He also loved his various dog and cat companions throughout his lifetime and enjoyed his work in the grocery industry throughout his life. He was an avid reader and loved science fiction, history and science. Mostly, he loved his family and the friends he met along the way. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his daughters, Allison Sobeck (Brian) and Tracy Hirstein (Nicholas); granddaughter, Claire, along with his sisters, Nelda Baker and Patsy Brown; nephew, Jeff Brown; niece, Aimee Murphy (Chris); great niece, Leia; and other beloved friends and family.
