Joe Edd Compton, formerly of Coolidge, passed away May 15, 2018 at his (recent) home in Robinson, Texas at the age of 86. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Coolidge with Rev. Chuck Sturgeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Scott Spencer, Hance Spencer, Alan Goodrich, Drew Jacobs, James Copley, Brian Trussell, Tracy Adler and Dale Weiss will serve as pallbearers. Clyde Woodard, Chuck Frazier, Lex Frazier, David Frazier, Mike Frazier, Patrick Frazier, George Dudik, Arnold Dudik and Ray Forrester will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Joe was born May 9, 1932 in Delia, Texas to J. L. and Lillie Compton. He had lived in the Coolidge area his entire life. He was a farmer/rancher while also working as a security guard for Frazier & Frazier. Joe married the love of his life, Ruby Adler, on November 19, 1954 in Malone, Texas, they were blessed with a daughter, Donna. His life revolved around his family. Joe's love for Donna was strong, then life got even better, two very special granddaughters, Lee and Lara, came along and finally a great grandson, Tripp, his pride and joy. Joe was truly a "country boy" at heart, he enjoyed working his farm and cattle, fishing, hunting and playing dominoes. He also liked wrestling (WWE) and drag racing. Joe liked being around people and had no problem visiting with anyone; he was a special friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. and Lillie Compton. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Compton of Robinson; daughter, Donna Spencer and husband, Stephen of Robinson; granddaughters, Lee Sanders and husband, Ray and Lara Wilkins and husband, Nate; great grandson, Tripp Sanders; sisters, Lorene Compton of Waco and Nell Adler of Waco; sisters-in-law, Mary Compton, Jean Compton Kravec, Annie Christian and Mabelene Tidwell; brother-in-law, Glendell Adler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
