Joe Edd Liles

Joe Edd “Redbird” Liles, of Mexia, passed away on January 17, 2022 at Parkview Regional Hospital due the Kidney complications at the age of 60.  He was born May 4, 1961 in Mexia, Texas to Clifton O’Neal Liles and Ruby May Morrow Chappell.

Redbird worked in the oilfield for several years and, in later years, he was yard manager for Woodson’s.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby May Chappell; father, Clifton Liles; and brother Barry Lee Sterling.

Redbird is survived by his wife, Lillie Marlene DeArmond Liles, with whom he shared 30 plus years; stepdaughter, Darla Faye Marberry Smith; four nieces, Elizabeth “Liz” Sterling Price, Barbara Sterling Price, Michelle Sterling Bennett, and Jan Sterling Massey; brother, Vance Liles; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He is also survived by many lifelong friends, that in his eyes, he considered as his extended family.
