John Brown

John Marion Brown, 82, passed away November 24, 2015 at his home in Thornton. Masonic graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 in the Thornton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. John was born April 26, 1933 in Oletha, Texas to P. N. "Jack" and Bertha Favors Brown. He was a lifetime resident of the Thornton area, where he owned and operated a ranch. He also served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. John married his lifelong partner, Eda "Ann" Robison, on June 6, 1961 in Marfa, Texas and they were blessed with two children, John Mikel and Suzann. John's life was spent serving God, loving his family and working hard on his ranch, which he thoroughly enjoyed. His favorite pastime was watching children participate in activities associated with the Limestone County Fair. John was a member of the Church of Christ, Thornton Masonic Lodge #486, Waco Scottish Rite and Groesbeck OES Chapter 810. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Suzann; and sisters, Helen Ingram and Merle Oates. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Brown of Thornton; son, John Mikel Brown and wife, Renee of Thornton; grandson, Connor Brown; brother, Joe Ray Brown of Thornton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Masons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Limestone County Fair Association, P. O. Box 192, Thornton, TX 76687.
