John Marion Kennedy, 78, of Mexia passed away March 25, 2013 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 11AM, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Shiloh Cemetery with Mr. Neil Bond officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. John was born August 6, 1934 in Mexia, Texas to Vernon Lee and Lena Irene McBride Kennedy. He was raised in the Shiloh Community where he also attended school. John married Judith Ann McGrew on June 10, 1983 in Dallas, Texas. He worked for Hesse Company, which later sold to Niagra Company, where he retired after 34 years as a machinist. After retirement, his love for the country and farming brought he and Judith back to the Mexia area where he raised Hereford cows. John loved his family, including his dogs, Bo, Buddy and Noel. He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his former wife, Patsy J Owens-Brown and children: Theresa Kay Weldon of St. Charles, IL, James Dwight Kennedy of Joplin, MO, John Marion Kennedy, Jr. of Oronogo, MO and Barbara Small of Grapevine, TX; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith Kennedy and step-children: Deborah Sue Garvin, Bret Raymond Miller and Steven Wayne Miller; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Luthera Mayo, Marsale Hinson, Elmer "Ted" Kennedy, Jerry Lee Kennedy, Kenneth D. Kennedy and Frances Carter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
