John Dale Phoenix, 87, of Teague passed away February 10, 2011 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Dale was born April 15, 1923 in Perry, Michigan to John Henry and Lina (Van Wormer) Phoenix. He had been a resident of Texas for 61 years and of Teague since 2000. He was a Data Processing Analyst for Shell Oil Company for 35 years. Dale served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and VFW. He was a very devoted and loving father. Dale's desire in life was to make his family happy. He was a Lutheran. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Lusch Phoenix; sons, Johnathan Mitchell and Kenneth Carl Phoenix; and sister, Thelma Phoenix Rann. Dale is survived by his special friend and companion, Sue Nichols of Teague; daughter, Michelle Patricia Phoenix of Houston; sons, Clifford Michael Phoenix and Paul Dale Phoenix and wife, Laura all of Houston; grandchildren, Michael Phoenix, Shawna Bracewell, April Nicole Phoenix, Christina Phoenix and Kathleen Phoenix; and many special friends. Pallbearers will be Warren Cheeney, Hunter Montgomery, Mike Montgomery, Bobby Parson, Kelly Scruggs and Byron Turner.
