John Reed

John Walter "Jack" Reed, 86, passed from this earth, Monday, January 26, 2015, following a long illness. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Ministers Van Pendergrass, Dorisey's brother, and Shane Alexander, of Northcrest Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Jack was born February 18, 1928 in Emporia, Kansas. He was the ninth of ten children born to J. F. and Mary Golden Reed. He grew up in Kansas and moved to Fresno, California when he was 18. Jack immediately began his career at Valley Decorating Company building floats for the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. He worked as a commercial artist for Valley Decorating until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Gary Nelson, who passed away in 2004. Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, , Dorisey Reed of Groesbeck; children, Kathy Clements and husband, Michael of Mexia, Gy Nelson and wife, Janie of Lake Stevens, Washington; grandchildren, Jennifer Clements of Mexia, Rebekah Craig and husband, Jeff of Wortham, Aaron Clements and wife, Sunie of Mexia and Andrea Barker and husband, Trent of Groesbeck; thirteen great-grandchildren, Cameron, Miranda, Dayna, Morgan, Troy, Triston, Kaemen, Jordan, Seth, Collyn, Easton and Bentley; and one great-great-granddaughter, McKala Price. Pallbearers will be Trent Barker, Tristan Barker, Jordan Clements, Aaron Clements, Jeff Craig and Cameron Price.
