We bid farewell to our father, Johnny Dale Carter, who departed from this world on September 27th, 2024, at the age of 68 in Corsicana, TX of natural causes. Johnny was born on May 15th, 1956, to Lillie Hancock and Vernie Carter in Jacksonville, Florida. After Johnny graduated from high school, he met his first wife and mother of his children Donna Willis and followed her family to Texas.
He worked hard as a welder for majority of his life but made sure to take time for his hobbies of riding horses and fishing. When a back injury limited his movements, he spent his free time on the lake. In all his life, Johnny never met a stranger and would happily talk to anyone. He truly had the gift of gab.
Johnny was a proud father to Donnielle Tyner and John Carter. Happily adopting his daughters’ husband David as his own “bonus son”. Johnny would often brag to anyone who’d listen about his two grandchildren, Asher and Erin Tyner. Both of whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lillie Hancock and Vernie Carter, as well as his twin brother Ronnie Carter; brothers William Carter, Lonnie Carter, and Joe Byrd; sisters, Catherine Burlington, Lucille Wall, Jeannette Growsby, and Judy Barber. He is survived by his children Donnielle & David Tyner and John Carter; grandchildren, Asher & Erin Tyner; and siblings, Linda Ray, Janet Tyner, and Ronnie Carter.
Johnny’s wishes were to spend eternity among nature, especially with his beloved fish. The family will spread his ashes in a private ceremony.
