Joseph A. (Joe) Sandifer, 53, of Mexia passed away unexpectedly at Parkview Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Joseph was a lifetime resident of Mexia, graduated Mexia High School and later attended Navarro College. He was part owner of The General Washout in Jewett, Texas, an oilfield service company. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and classic cars. He never met a stranger and always extended his friendship. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his daughter, Molly Contreras and husband, Tony stationed in San Diego, California; son, Cameron Sandifer of Mexia; and three grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, Ariel Contreras and a new granddaughter expected in May. Other survivors include father, J.T. Sandifer and wife, Bobbie of Mexia; brother, James Sandifer and wife, Vicki of Mexia; sister, Kay Cook and husband, Leslie of Axtell, brother, Marcus Sandifer and wife, Sandra of Bivins, Texas. He also leaves many nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Gardner Sandifer and brother, Leonard Sandifer. Pallbearers will be Grady Masters, Chris Jones, Ronnie Thornton, Randy Truett, Ruben "Dually" Anzadula and Ronnie Tanner. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 26, from 5pm until 7 pm at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at the Temple Baptist Church on Tyler Street in Mexia on Wednesday, January 27, at 2:00 pm with Graveside Services following at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Michael Vestal and Rev. Joe D. Sandifer.
