On Friday, May 21, 2010, God took home one of his most special angels, Joy Elaine McFarland Nobles, after battling a debilitating illness, Multiple System Atrophy, for the last few years. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 24, 2010 at Prairie Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Sain officiating. She was a wonderful wife, a caring sister, a special aunt, an excellent professional physical therapy assistant and most of all, the most fantastic friend any person on this earth deserves. She touched hundreds of lives and made an impact on each and everyone. She was always concerned about the other person's needs - even while battling her illness. Joy was born in Mart, Texas on April 4, 1975 to George Delmer McFarland and Emma Faye Sanderson. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1975. After several jobs, she started working at Mexia State School in the wheelchair shop. While doing this, she completed her associate degree in child care in May 1985. She went on to get her associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant, then her APTA license in May 1987. She worked at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco on the inpatient rehabilitation unit. She went on to work at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia and then on to Lott Physical Therapy in Fairfield. She was working at Providence outpatient physical therapy when her illness forced her to retire on July 19, 2007. Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Faye, her father; George Delmer; and her second mother, Edna Ferguson. She is survived by her husband, Brad Nobles, who stood by her and took care of her with the utmost love; special son, Beau Edward Nobles; sisters, Glenda Gschnell and husband, Al and Sandra Pounder and husband, Dan, "special brother"; brother, George David McFarland and wife, Janice; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; cousins; many, many friends; and her special pets, Hitch, Ginger, Casper, Gypsy and Girl. We, the family and friends, would like to thank VistaCare Hospice, Miss Maria and Miss Rhonda and Visiting Angels, Miss Shirley, for all their loving care over the last few years - most especially, Joy's own special angel - Angel Chavez. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends in Waco or the charity of choice.
