Joyce Welch

Joyce Marie Welch, longtime beautician in Mexia, entered her heavenly home from Waco, Texas on April 27, 2018 at the age of 70. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at Landmark Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. James Dorman officiating.. Interment will follow in the Fort Parker Memorial Park in Groesbeck. Honorary pallbearers will be David Welch, Noah, Michael White, Jude White, Justin Gore, Brandon Wedgman and Jackson Ingram. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Joyce was born August 17, 1947 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Edwin and Betty Blood Lenox. She married the love of her life, Johnnie L. Welch, on September 22, 1962. Mexia has been their home for 40 years. Joyce was a well-known, and loved, beautician in Mexia for many years. She owned and operated her own shop, "All About You" for 20 years. Joyce's life centered around her love for God, her family, friends and others. She was very outgoing, enjoyed being around people and greeted everyone with a friendly smile. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Joyce's heart belonged to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were the light of her life and they, too, thought there was no one like their "NANA". Joyce enjoyed spending quality time with all her family but her favorite time was going on vacations with the grandchildren. She was also a longtime active member of Landmark Baptist Church. She loved her church, church family and participating in church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Mary Anne Welch. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of almost 56 years, Johnnie Welch of Mexia; son, David Welch of Mexia; two granddaughters, Morgan Welch and Reagan White and husband, Michael of Corpus Christi; three great grandchildren, Noah, Avery and Jude; sister, Beverly Harral; nieces, Deborah Gore and husband, Benny and Susan Wedgman and husband, Harold; great nephews, Justin Gore and wife, Andrea and Brandon Wedgman; and great-great niece and nephews, Natalie and Colton Gore, Landon and Jase Wedgman.
