Karen was born February 6, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Oscar Leonard and Brenda Allyne (Jean) Greer. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1965. Karen worked as a beautician for 20 years, a job that seemed to be her calling from the day she was born. Just as many mothers, her mother saved the dolls she and, sister, Kathi had throughout their childhood and there was never any doubt which dolls belonged to Karen. Her dolls consisted of many new hair dos and new colors. During high school, she was ahead of the times as she occasionally tried out new colors on her hair, which happened to be like the popular color styles of today.
After she was forced to give up her career as a beautician, due to health reasons, she worked for Reed's Flowers in Waco for 10 years and then completed her working career for the Heart of Texas Group Homes. Karen found the job in the group home very rewarding; she loved the girls she took care of.
Karen loved her family and was so proud of them. She also had several close friends that she enjoyed spending time with, whether it was meeting for lunch or just getting together to visit. Karen's life revolved around her family and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Brenda Greer; and granddaughter, Kristie Mitchell.
Karen is survived by her son, Kelly Bounds and wife, Katrina of Mexia; grandchildren, Danielle Smith, John McClinton and wife, Kallie and Reagan Bounds; great granddaughter, Kristine McClinton; sister Kathi Murphy of Richmond, TX; nephew, Jason Murphey and wife, Sandra; niece, Jenny Cervantes and husband, Oscar; number of great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Frances Daniell.
