Kate Glover

Effie Kate Glover, 100, a longtime resident of Galena Park, Texas, passed away on May 14, 2024.  Kate was born on June 10, 1923, in Seale-Round Prairie, Texas to parents, James Franklin Boyd and Bessie Mae Goodwin Boyd.  Kate loved her family above all else.  She was an excellent homemaker but found time to volunteer as a DJ and chaperone with youth dances at the Galena Park community center. For many years she was a devoted and active member of the Holland Ave. Baptist Church.  In addition, she spent many years working at MacArthur Elementary School cafeteria.  In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and sewing, especially quilting.  She leaves behind many beautiful handmade quilts that she has created over the years and gifted to her family and friends.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family at the homestead in Seale.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Melvin M. Glover; son, Lynn Rex Glover; brothers, James “Bill,” Walter, Woodrow, Maxwell, and Cavett, and sisters, Lula Belle, Mabel, and Fay. 

Kate leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Sandra Kay Clifton; sons, Wynn Ray Glover and wife Donna, and Bruce Edward Glover and wife Rea; 10 grandkids and 10 great-grand kids, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Lake Limestone Baptist Church on Saturday, May 18^th at 10:00 A.M. with service at 11:00 A.M.  Graveside service will follow at the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery located at FM 937 & Dogwood Creek Road.  Lunch will be provided at the Seale-Round Prairie VFD next door. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seale-Round Prairie VFD College Scholarship Fund.
