Kate Mays

Mrs. Kate Ethelia Mays, 95, of Mexia passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in Mexia. Mrs. Mays was born May 16, 1912 in Limestone County to Thomas Calhoun and Jonnie Ethelia Boykin Ward. She was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia. She worked for many years at the Mexia State School before her retirement. Mrs. Mays was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tracy Mays in 1979, her siblings, Florence Smith, Vesta Geoke, Nell Reddell, Ruby Ellison, Bessie Power, Bud Ward, Travis Ward, Clayton Ward, Levert Ward and Max Arnold Ward. Survivors include several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Mays will be 1 pm Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia. The Reverend Marcus Sheffield will officiate and interment will follow in the Faulkenberry cemetery in Groesbeck. Pallbearers will be Jim Ward, Don Ward, Gary Huddleston, Jackie Reynolds, Jon Bickert and Sam Jackson. Visitation will be anytime afternoon on Friday and Saturday morning at the funeral home.
